When I was a young christian boy, I told my mother that I was concerned about playing Doom. I said I loved the game and wanted to play the hell out of it, but I was worried that the excessive demonic violence might be wrong to participate in. (This is, btw, an example of an eleven-year-old playing an essentially "M" rated game and conscientously regulating himself in that play). She said I should just pretend I'm an angel doing God's work.

Western religion, pretty crucial stuff.
She was ahead of her time, considering the Angel v Demon Christian shooters that would follow :)
